Afro Puff

Afro Puff

This is a variation of the gala dinner quickie which, instead of having a large puff on the top of your head, bobby pins turn it into a sleek look.

What you need:

Timeframe: One day

Time to prep: Ten minutes

  • A long ribbon to tie up your hair (silk)
  • Your favourite oil (I use the afrorage hair massage oil for my hair)
  • Something to fluff out your hair, e.g large wide toothed comb, I however use my fingers which work like a charm every time
  • Bobby pins, loads of bobby pins

Step 1: Start with free, softened hair. De-tangle your hair if you must, using your fingers or a wide toothed comb.  The looser your hair is the less it will tangle when exposed to the elements

Step 2:  Rub your favourite oil on your hands and run it through your hair to give it some shine and a healthy look

Step 3:  Experiment with pulling  all your hair to the top left or top right of your head to create a small puff, when you find a position you like slowly curl the ribbon around the puff so that all hair is held and is secure.

Step 4:  Tuck the ends of the puff underneath themselves to create a bun.  Make sure no hair is loose so as to create a uniform look. (My buns always tend to be uneven!)

Step 5: Spray with your hold oil and head to the party!
